Hybrid Fiber Optic Rotary Joint combine electrical and optical channels. While fiber optics are becoming the medium of choice for signals due to large bandwidth, immunity to EMI and high reliability, it is acknowledged that rotary interfaces must also carry electrical power. Electrical channels are used to transfer power, low and high frequency signals, HD-SDI video, Ethernet… They use silver graphite gold on gold or contactless technologies. The fiber optic rotary joint transfers optical signals in single or multi mode. Electrical and Optical channels are integrated and tested in a single standalone and compact unit.

They can be combined with other types of rotary joints such as Pneumatic, Hydraulic or Hyper Frequency.
